Peder Severin Krøyer (Danish, 1851 – 1909) was one of the Skagen Painters, a group of Danish and Nordic artists in Skagen, Denmark. In this idyllic painting, his wife Marie Krøyer, also an artist, strolls along the water’s edge with fellow painter Anna Ancher in the summer of 1893. This oil-on-canvas work measures 100 by 150 cm, and is held at the Skagens Museum, Skagen, Denmark.
