Canaletto (Giovanni Antonio Canal, Venice, Italy, 1697 – 1768) is easily the most noteworthy painter of Venetian cityscapes. The oil-on-canvas paintings in this collection are held by the Royal Collection Trust of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and they are on view currently as part of an exhibit called “Canaletto & the Art of Venice,” in The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, London, United Kingdom.
