Pierre Auguste Renoir (French, 1841 – 1919) completed this oil-on-canvas painting circa 1888. The Daughters of Catulle Mendès were Huguette (1871 – 1964), Claudine (1876 – 1937), and Helyonne (1879 – 1955). Their mother was the virtuoso pianist Augusta Holmès. This grand portrait measures 63 3/4 x 51 1/8 inches (161.9 x 129.9 cm), and it is on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fifth Avenue, New York City, in Gallery 821.
