William Merritt Chase (American, 1849 – 1916) created this gorgeous portrait of a woman in a kimono with a Japanese fan and an abundant vase of peonies. This pastel artwork measures 48 x 48 inches (121.9 x 121.9 cm) and it is owned by the Terra Foundation for American Art. This painting is part of a special touring exhibit of Chase’s work, currently on view at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts until 16 January 2017.
