Henri Fantin-Latour (French, 1836 – 1904) painted this lush bouquet of dahlias, phlox, and roses, picked from his summer garden in the village of Buré, Normandy, in September 1880. This gorgeous oil-on-canvas work measures 20 x 24 3/8 inches (50.8 x 61.9 cm), and it is on display at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Fifth Avenue, New York City, in Gallery 824. (The first photograph is by The Met, and the other photos are mine, unedited, from a visit to The Met, July 2017.)
