Paul Klee (Swiss German, 1879 – 1940) completed this nighttime scene in March 1919. He created this work with watercolour on paper, with paper borders laid down on the artist’s mount. The image measures 18.4 by 17 cm (7 1/4 by 6 3/4 inches), and the mount size is 30.5 by 24 cm (12 by 9 1/2 inches). This artwork was sold at Sotheby’s, London, on 05 February 2014, far surpassing its estimate, at 482,500 GBP.
