Who is Sylvia? by Edwin Austin Abbey, 1896 - 1900
 

Edwin Austin Abbey (American, 1852 – 1911) painted this colorful oil-on-canvas scene from Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona: “Who Is Sylvia? What Is She, That All the Swains Commend Her?” He painted it between 1896 and 1899, then reworked it in 1900. It measures 121.92 × 121.92 cm (48 × 48 inches), and it is held by the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, although it is not on view. Accession No.2014.136.19
