In 1682, draftsman, drawing master, and etcher Israel Silvestre (French, 1621 – 1691) designed this engraving of the Château de Versailles, France. That same year, King Louis XIV officially moved his court from Paris to Versailles. This work of art is held by The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
