Abbott Handerson Thayer (American, 1849 – 1921) painted this beautiful angel, the first in a series, in 1887. His daughter Mary, aged 11, posed for the portrait. This artwork measures 92 x 71.5 cm, and it is held by the American Art Museum, Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C.
