John Linnell (British, 1792 – 1882) painted these reapers, resting at noon after a hard morning’s work, in 1865. He painted four differing versions of this scene. This one, his second, measures 940 x 1397 mm, and it is held by Tate, Britain, in London, although it is not on display.
